Christina Noble Charity Bicycle Challenge – Day 1

As I wrote earlier, I have been leading a Charity Challenge Bicycle Tour through Vietnam and Cambodia in which participants have raised money for the Christina Noble Children Foundation (CNCF).

We began on the 8th November in Ho Chi Minh City and have been riding our way through southern Vietnam and rural Cambodia. Last night we arrived in Phnom Phenh, tired but thrilled to have ridden some 400km’s and had the opportunity to meet many friendly Vietnamese and Khmer people. We now have a well earned rest day in Cambodia’s Capital city, so the group have headed out to see the sights, while I’m typing and eating cake!!

Beginning in HCMC, the tour started with a leisurely stroll around the District 1area, taking in the main sites such as the Opera House, St Joseph Cathedral, HCMC Post Office, Reunification Palace and Ben Thanh Market. In the afternoon it was time meet the two wheeled bikes that we would ride to Moc Bai, the Vietnam/Cambodia border. With seats, bags and peddles added, we were ready to hit the road running.

Check out some of the images below, taken during our walk around HCMC. The next post will be about our visit to Cu Chi Tunnels and the 80 odd km ride to Tay Ninh!
